{"id":2647,"date":"2019-10-04T17:57:35","date_gmt":"2019-10-04T14:57:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.muhunda.co.tz\/?p=2647"},"modified":"2019-11-05T16:22:12","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T13:22:12","slug":"tanzania-denies-hiding-information-on-suspected-ebola-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.muhunda.co.tz\/?p=2647","title":{"rendered":"Tanzania denies hiding information on suspected Ebola cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DAR ES SALAAM (Reuters) &#8211; Tanzania denied on Thursday it was withholding information from the World Health Organisation (WHO) on suspected cases of Ebola, saying it was not hiding any outbreak of the disease in the country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"StandardArticleBody_body\">\n<div class=\"PrimaryAsset_container\">\n<div class=\"Image_container\" tabindex=\"-1\">\n<figure class=\"Image_zoom\">\n<div class=\"LazyImage_container LazyImage_dark\">\n<div>\u00a0\u201cEbola is known as a fast-spreading disease, whose impact can be felt globally. This is not a disease that the Tanzanian government can hide,\u201d Tanzania health minister Ummy Mwalimu told journalists in commercial capital Dar es Salaam.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cReports suggesting that Tanzania has not been transparent about suspected cases of Ebola and is not sharing information with the WHO are false and should be ignored.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month WHO said Tanzania had refused to provide detailed information on suspected Ebola cases.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation said it was made aware on Sept. 10 of the death of a patient in Dar es Salaam, and was unofficially told the next day the person had tested positive for Ebola.
