{"id":291,"date":"2017-12-14T09:39:47","date_gmt":"2017-12-14T06:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.muhunda.co.tz\/?p=291"},"modified":"2017-12-14T09:39:47","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T06:39:47","slug":"tanzania-government-eager-to-restore-investor-confidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.muhunda.co.tz\/?p=291","title":{"rendered":"Tanzania government eager to restore investor confidence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"__articleContent-col2-row3\">\n<h4>The Tanzania government has expressed its desire to kick start the mining industry and restore investor confidence.<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"__articleContent-col2-row3\">\n<p>This is according to ASX-listed rare earths junior Peak Resources and its\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.miningreview.com\/news\/new-ceo-brings-rare-earths-development-expertise-tanzania-project\/\">CEO Rocky Smith<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0who recently met with the Tanzania government to discuss the company\u2019s Ngualla rare earths project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is clear recognition by officials of the uncertainty that the announcement of the legislative changes created, and they are working pro-actively to demonstrate that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.miningreview.com\/news\/new-regulations-amended-legislation-tanzania-expected-year-end\/\"><strong>Tanzania is still an attractive investment destination<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>and open for business,\u201d Smith says.<\/p>\n<p>Smith also notes that Special Mining Licence (SML) applications will be given priority by the Mining Commission. The Ministry confirmed that Peak Resources\u2019 SML application is one of only three current applications.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely encouraged by our ongoing interactions with the Tanzanian government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the changes to the mining legislation in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.miningreview.com\/news\/tanzania-power-requirements-drive-kibo-mining-mbeya-project-forward\/\"><strong>Tanzania<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>in July this year Peak\u2019s senior executives have spent considerable time in Tanzania continuing to develop the excellent relationship the company enjoys with the government and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Mining Commission will assess project requirements on their own merits on a case by case basis. Early indications from the Ministry are that they understand that the export of the rare earth concentrate to Teesside is a practical requirement for the viability of the Ngualla project.
